Getting film to sit flat on chrome

Hands stretching clear film over the chrome tank of a Royal Enfield Continental GT 650
Continental GT 650Mr Clean, film on the chrome tank

Film grips paint well, but on chrome it slides around, and any air trapped under it stands out because there's a mirror right behind it. So we keep cleaning the chrome for a while after it already looks clean, then work the film out from the centre with more heat and less stretch than paint would need.

The usual mistake on chrome is pulling the film too tight. It shrinks back over the next few weeks and the edges lift, so we start with a larger piece and ease it into shape slowly, even though some of it gets wasted.

When you collect the bike, run a finger along the film edges on the chrome and tell us if any of them feel raised.

Send us a photo of the chrome on your bike and tell us which model it is, and we'll say how much of it the film can cover.
